We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Software Engineer to work at our Doncaster site. Main Purpose of the Role To develop and support bespoke IT applications and solutions for the Rail Division based on business requirements. To develop the applications to the committed timescales and maintain all internally-developed systems as required. Accountability for the day-to-day running and performance of IT applications. Jobholder is responsible for resolution of any issues relating to the applications. The applications need to be reliable and secure. Plans and arranges own work to deliver changes to the applications as required. Required to show initiative in the components required to deliver the changes requested. Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required Work will require creativity and initiative to be shown in developing appropriate IT applications for use by the business. Will require detailed knowledge of a number of IT applications / software language skills and be able to determine appropriate use for business need. Requirement to support the whole of Rail Division with IT development projects so scope and range can be broad and fairly complex in nature. Qualifications & Education Essential : Degree in Computer Studies or related subject (or equivalent experience) Experience & Proven Ability Required Experience of Microsoft SQL server Experience of ASP, ASP.NET Working to deadlines / under pressure Time management Knowledge / appreciation of SAP and BAPI use Knowledge of XML and XSLT Good business and commercial awareness Self-motivated Duties & Key Responsibilities APPLICATION / SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT Responsible for development of the Unipart Rail Intranet, Intranet Applications and Web applications Responsible for maintaining good communication and relationships with all internal customers to ensure visibility of project work status and also of disruptions to the existing applications Web and System Development – ASP.NET, VB/C#, MS SQL, JS, JQUERY, JAVA (Android Dev), XML on Web Sites, Angular, MVC, Web Services and Desktop Applications APPLICATION / SOLUTION SUPPORT Responsible for the support of the Unipart Rail Intranet, Intranet Applications and Web applications Responsible for ensuring that reported issues/bugs are investigated and resolved as a priority.
