The Agricultural Engineering and Agriculture department is located at Coleg Glynllifon. Students study full-time level 2 and 3 courses with the possibility of completing an apprenticeship with a suitable employer. Students enter the world of work by working for employers who offer Agricultural services, e.g., selling and maintaining machinery on farms or by contracting.
With guidance, the Practical Skills Supervisor will work to develop students' understanding and skills through planned practical activities. These tasks follow a scheme of work that develops during term time to establish students' competence so they meet the requirements of the course.
Example Activities:
Driving farm machinery (tractor/Telehandler) Working with livestock - dosing, weighing, sorting lambs and calves. Farm equipment maintenance - Tractor, telehandler, round baler, manure spreader, fertilizer spreader. Estate maintenance work - fencing, walling, installing gates.
The Practical Skills Supervisor will be asked to contribute to a range of these activities depending on expertise and experience.
