Maintain a working knowledge of the chemical processes used within Operations, and provide assistance as required to Operations on these processes. Follow good housekeeping practices and safe working procedures in the laboratory and office, ensuring that all areas always remain clean and tidy and free from spillage. Maintain accurate and precise lab book data. Follow the company’s Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies and promote adherence to them; especially in the keeping of records, data, and samples. Work flexibly within the above guidelines, adhere to company values, and carry out any other similar duties as may be required. Be responsible for training and development of operational staff concerning standard operating procedures, equipment instructions, and process work instructions. Ensure the safe and complete handover of the designated areas to the oncoming shift. While accepting the role of a working chemist, ensure that additional duties that may be reasonably assigned to the chemist are fully carried out and adequately handed over to the oncoming shift. Skills required to be a Senior R&D Chemist: MSc in Chemistry as a minimum, with a higher degree being preferred. Laboratory-based R&D experience is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in either industrial or academic areas. Familiarity with US/EU natural aroma chemicals in the flavour and fragrance market is an advantage, although significant knowledge in industries such as pharma, medicinal or fine chemicals will be considered.
