You will be based at our modern purpose-built air-conditioned Head Office in the vibrant city centre of Cardiff. Cardiff is an accessible city with strong transport links, and London is under 2 hours away by train.

As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for:

Developing, sourcing and delivering an on-trend and commercially focused range, whilst driving profit and enhancing the Peacock’s brand position. Supporting the Buying Director and Head of Buying in the development and delivery of the Buying Strategy. Maintaining strong, professional relationships with existing suppliers to ensure consistent quality and service. Negotiating new supplier agreements to achieve profitable pricing and delivery terms.

Your key responsibilities will be:

Plans and builds a commercially balanced range, whilst achieving margin targets as set by the company. Drives regular departmental product reviews, ensuring coordination across departments in terms of trends, looks and colour palettes. Deep understanding of fabrics, garment constructions and the whole buying process with a strong print eye. Operates an effective and timely product sign-off process, in line with the critical path and planning cycle. Leading ladieswear in driving trend-led collections with the right level of newness/fashion/trend. Takes responsibility for maximising profit on the department through strong negotiation and development of global supplier relations. Trades the department and analyses relevance of new and emerging trends for the brand and plans accordingly. Works collaboratively with the merchandising team to monitor and control trade, in order to ensure stock turn, margin targets and profit levels are achieved.

Candidate skills and experience:

Working to at least Senior Buyer level in a fast-paced fashion retailer. Proven track record of developing and trading highly commercial fashion ranges that exceed sales/profit targets. Deep understanding of fabrics, garment construction and the whole buying process with a strong print eye. A passion for trends who excels in driving newness in a fast-paced environment. Experienced in negotiating with suppliers to secure the best value, cost prices, and lead times.
