An exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and forward-thinking Lead Practitioner has arisen within QHB Theatres Gynaecology, Maternity, Ophthalmic's, ENT, Dentals and Plastic Surgery.

The post holder will provide clinical management, responsibility and leadership whilst supporting the QHB Theatre sites to ensure a patient-focused care delivery. To have a professional leadership presence, working collaboratively and co-operatively with the wider MDT for the smooth running of the theatres. This will incorporate undertaking a co-ordinator role, management of day-to-day activities, troubleshooting and working collaboratively with fellow Lead Practitioners, Senior Sisters and the Clinical Theatre manager.

Ensuring that Guidelines, National and Local policies, Infection control measures, Audit collection and Quality Assurance is maintained and adhered to. From these assessments to provide improvement pathways to ensure best practice is achieved, which is evidence-based.

To be able to provide work collaboratively with the MDT to achieve maximum efficiency and utilisation of theatre lists. In tandem, the successful candidate will take responsibility for financial budgets, targets and cost savings on a regular basis with the Divisional Finance team and Clinical Theatre Manager.

Main duties of the job To co-ordinate, organise and take responsibility and accountability for the management and organisation of the given specialities, this involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities including staff management. To be a professional and clinical role model, leading and coordinating theatres, in conjunction with the Theatre Matron, and working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Able to practice clinically within theatres. Provide specialist clinical advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi-professional team. Deliver clinical leadership through effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidence-based practice.

Person Specification Registration Essential

Registration with appropriate professional body. Team leadership or management qualification.

Desirable

Relevant Teaching and Assessing qualification. Evidence of degree level study.

Knowledge/experience Essential

Demonstrable experience as a Team leader (band 6) within Theatres. Specialist Knowledge in multiple specialities including obstetrics and gynaecology. Recent evidence of CPD activities.

Desirable

Evidence of change management experience.

Communication Essential

Demonstrates ability to communicate with patients and MDT. Ability to maintain and build relationships within the team. Understands barriers to communication. Able to persuade and negotiate.

Analytical Skills Essential

Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Demonstrates calm manner in emergency situations.

Planning and organisation Essential

Able to plan own time and that of others. Demonstrates leadership skills in a quickly changing environment. Able to prioritise.
