Role Description: We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated Speech & Language Therapist who is keen to extend their clinical skills in stroke. This post is based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and is rotational covering our acute Stroke Unit and Early Supported Discharge Team, providing experience in inpatient and community settings. Main duties of the job
What we look for: Experience of managing stroke patients with acquired dysphagia and communication difficulties across different settings. An enthusiasm to develop own skills and competencies as well as sharing those with others. Flexibility in adapting to changing service requirements. A range of CPD opportunities within the Stroke and Speech and Language Therapy teams, with established training sessions and focus groups to learn from and contribute to. Excellent links to the acute and community Speech and Language Therapy teams with clinical leads in range of specialist areas to provide support and learning. Who we are: The Hampshire Hospitals stroke service includes a 36-bed in-patient Stroke Unit and Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team in the community. You will have a chance to work in both services as part of this rotational post, joining a team of stroke-specialist speech and language therapists and assistants. Able to make efficient transport arrangements in order to visit patients in their own homes in a rural environment Experience and Knowledge
Ability to assess and manage classical cases of swallowing disorder with minimal support Experience of working in acute hospital setting Experience of working with a range of adult speech and language therapy-related disorders Experience of clinical supervision of students and others Experience of delivering training to others Skills and Ability
Evidence of good reflective practice Evidence of prioritisation skills Evidence of working well in an MDT Understanding of national and local strategies, policies and procedures Disclosure and Barring Service Check
