We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with experience in onco-immunology and cellular biology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA.

The Oncology Translational Research team will partner with Oncology TA team members to increase clinical translatability and to contribute to preclinical development programs within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team that, by exploiting allogenic/autologous patient-derived PBMC alone or in combination with patient-derived organoids, is analyzing downstream immune response, developing, and implementing cutting-edge cellular, genomic and molecular techniques with a multimodality analytic approach, plus machine learning models to improve cancer patient risk stratification as well as to predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities.

Job Purpose

In this role you will

Setting up and performing immune cells-based in vitro assays (including activation, proliferation, and phenotype characterisation). Planning and executing in vitro studies with allogenic/autologous immune cells with and without patient-derived organoids for downstream analysis of immune response. Executing co-culture protocols of immune cells and other cell types including patient-derived organoids, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. Supporting and performing multimodality experiments according to the DBT lab project. Collecting and reporting data to the lab head and solving technical issues as part of a cross-functional project team. Collaborating/cooperating with KCL scientists within the GSK-KCL Translational Oncology Research Hub, an exclusive research collaboration between GSK and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre at KCL.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BSc in Cell Biology/Immunology/Oncology or related, + a demonstrated multidisciplinary mix of training/experience in Oncology and immunology. Proven expertise in T cell biology in tumor immune microenvironment and in immunotherapy. Significant experience in cell culture techniques (immune cells and primary samples/ patient-derived organoids). Extensive experience in multiple colors flow cytometry. Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds by training/discipline, as well as senior members of the GSK stakeholders/research partner units. Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply: MSc or PhD in Immunology/Oncology or related. A track record of scientific publication. Experience in vaccine development and application.
