An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Children's Nurse to join our friendly and welcoming team on the Treehouse Children's Unit.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Paediatric Nurse who is interested in developing their leadership skills, to support the Ward Manager in leading the Treehouse team.

You would need to be dynamic and thrive under pressure, as well as being committed to delivering outstanding patient care to children, young people and their families.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong patient focus, excellent communication skills and demonstrate that they have the ability to work with and lead a team.

Main duties of the job

We care for children and young people with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions.

The Treehouse Unit is a 20 bedded acute paediatric ward, with 8 paediatric assessment beds (PAU) and 2 HDU beds. We also run day case surgical lists 4 days a week.

Within Treehouse, we have 2 Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educators who will offer you a robust induction plan.

We will provide you with support to further progress your career, including a wide variety of training opportunities. We will offer you an individual Band 6 Development Plan which is tailored to your unique individual development needs.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this, it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education and Qualification

Essential RSCN/RN(child) Evidence of post-registration study and preceptorship training

Desirable Degree in nursing or related subject

Experience

Essential Substantial experience as a Band 6 Paediatric Nurse Evidence of good organisational and planning skills Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development Excellent communication skills

Desirable Experience at band 6 level
