We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity for experienced Maternity Support Workers to join our Community Midwifery teams caring for women and families at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. This role will involve working with and supporting our friendly teams of experienced Community Midwives. You will contribute to the delivery of safe and high-quality antenatal and postnatal care to women and families in a range of community settings including homes, birth centres, children's centres, and GP surgeries. The successful candidate will have recent, relevant experience of working in a care setting. Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust delivers maternity care to over 6000 women per year in our Birth centres at Maidstone and Crowborough, at homebirths with our Community Midwives, as well as in the Obstetric Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury. Once your pre-employment checks have been completed, you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date, which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions. You will be expected to attend the Trust's Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time, lasts for two weeks, and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area; all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9 am to 5 pm. Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at

Enhanced Level . (Enhanced Level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children). Person Specification

Qualifications

Experience in Maternity, ideally in a community setting. GCSE maths grade A*/9 - C/4 or Functional Skills maths level 2. NVQ/Diploma level 3 in Healthcare or an equivalent healthcare qualification (competencies must have been assessed in a healthcare environment). Knowledge & Experience

Can compare basic test results to normal values. Able to recognise trends. Previous experience in a maternity setting. Current healthcare issues. Skills

Able to read, write and perform simple calculations. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Can understand and communicate factual and accurate information. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritise workload with supervision. Can demonstrate practical skills to others. Is a positive role model. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum pro rata.
