We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Specialist Pharmacist, Oncology & Haematology to gain knowledge and experience in an ever developing speciality where you can make a positive contribution to patient care. You will be based at Ipswich Hospital within the Oncology Pharmacy situated in the Woolverstone Wing. This satellite pharmacy facility provides both clinical services and preparation of systemic anticancer therapy to inpatients and day cases as well as supporting outpatient clinics. It is a busy unit supplying anti-cancer therapy to over 70 patients a day and the ward supports more complex treatments including bone marrow transplantation. Utilising your technical and clinical skills as you develop, you will also gain experience in a specific tumour site to enable you to learn to work with the wider multi-disciplinary team. To aid your development you will be supported by the Senior Specialist Pharmacists. You will be supported to learn all aspects of the role using local and national courses to enable your development for this specific role and any future aspirations within this speciality or other senior roles. Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the validation of anti-cancer therapy using the electronic prescribing system and for final checking the products before release to the ward/day unit. You will provide support to the clinical pharmacist undertaking activity on the ward and out-patient clinics. To provide a specialised clinical pharmacy service to oncology and haematology patients. To provide technical support to the chemotherapy preparation unit. To work with the Senior Clinical Pharmacist to provide a clinical pharmacy service to the Oncology & Haematology Ward and Woolverstone Macmillan Centre by liaison with nursing staff, patients, doctors, etc. Interpret highly complex prescription information, validate prescriptions by ensuring safe and effective therapy to include liaison with medical team if necessary. Interpret patients' prescription charts and assess for safety and quantities to supply by determining length of stay/urgency of medication and order medicines required from the dispensary, involve the patient and counsel them on current therapy and discontinued therapy (including patients on complex drug regimen) and provide advice on medication aids as required by liaison with relatives, carers, GPs & community pharmacies. Experience

General hospital pharmacy experience including application of clinical pharmacy service at ward level Experience of pharmacy technical services Electronic prescribing Involvement in R&D Training of other staff Qualifications

Current registration with General Pharmaceutical Council Vocational degree in pharmacy + pre-registration Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or clinical equivalent Member of British Oncology Pharmacy Association Non-medical prescriber Knowledge

Knowledge of current pharmacy issues and medicines legislation Knowledge of hospital pharmacy procedures Evidence of on-going CPD Knowledge of oncology pharmacy practice. Electronic prescribing Knowledge of aseptic preparation of medicines Disclosure and Barring Service Check
