Part time Immunisation Nurse (South Warks) - Band 5 Post Based at Woodloes House, Woodloes Avenue South, Warwick, CV34 5XN 24 hours per week (over 4 days), term time only. We will provide you with training to enable you to work as an immunisation nurse. It is essential to be a driver and have your own vehicle that you are willing to use for business use. Essential to have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. There will be occasional evening and weekend work. Main Duties of the Job

An opportunity to join the CWPT School Aged Immunisation Service that provides school-based immunisations in Primary and Secondary schools across Coventry & Warwickshire. This is a Public Health role that would be perfect for a Registered Nurse that is passionate about addressing Health Inequalities and Health promotion through advocating for vaccine uptake. The role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to work in collaboration with local schools to uphold and increase vaccine uptake through health promotion. To join us, you must be a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year post-registration nursing experience. Ideally, you will have experience in: Working with children Working in the community The post holder must like children and young people and have a compassionate manner when dealing with large groups of young people. You will need to have very good organisational skills and be calm under pressure. Job Responsibilities

To plan, assess, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for the client group. In conjunction with the Band 6 nurse, clinically prioritise and organise the immunisation and vaccination schedule for the school year, ensuring all eligible school-aged children are offered the correct vaccination at the correct time. Be responsible for immunisation sessions at school and in clinic, providing supervision for junior staff, assessing risk, and ensuring the safety of the young people. Contribute towards the development of public health initiatives to meet the needs of identified target groups and carry out public health immunisation promotional activities through integration and effective partnership working. Manage a caseload of schools as Named Nurse, responsible for understanding the demographic of said schools. Plan and complete health promotion to address health inequalities identified within the caseload. Work with young people, families, schools, and communities to provide advice and support on a range of immunisation issues. Develop and support the PSHE programmes within the school curriculum to aid the uptake of immunisation within schools and the community, building on current relationships and partnerships. Plan, deliver, and evaluate vaccination sessions / health promotion / health education activities to target both local and national drivers for childhood immunisation schedules. Ensure timely and accurate data entry to demonstrate improving data quality on the electronic system. Conduct yourself professionally to ensure that you are an ambassador for your profession, the service that you work within, and the Trust as a whole. Remain eligible for Nurse Registration through participation in appraisal, clinical supervision, and continuous professional development. Participate and contribute to the development of training programmes, protocols, care pathways, and procedures as directed by the clinical lead. Identify children and young people who need protection, which may include the interpretation of complex information about the child and family. Be able to work unsocial hours, e.g., weekends and early evenings, and support other immunisation programmes across the trust, as required. Communication

Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate with a large range of people, varying the communication accordingly. Facilitate children and young people and/or carers to engage in the immunisation and vaccination schedule. Use negotiation skills in the management of conflict across a range of situations and seek advice and support to resolve difficulties. Work with children/young people, carers, families, and other professionals and agencies, agreeing decisions relevant to the child/young person and family. Attend and contribute to staff and team meetings. Facilitate effective communication with children/young people, carers, families, and colleagues, particularly where significant barriers to understanding exist, for example, in clients with communication difficulties. Adapt practice to meet individual child/young person circumstances with due regard for cultural, social, and linguistic differences. Support the directorate in participating in the complaints process as directed. Analytical and Judgemental Skills / Freedom to Act

The post holder will work in a school, community, or home environment assessing children, young people, and adults and deciding on the best course of action. Advice and direction will be available from Bands 6 and 7. Make clinical decisions and support others to make decisions in a range of situations where there may be complex or ethical considerations, e.g., assessing capacity to consent in under 16s. Be accountable for your professional action and recognise your professional boundaries, seeking advice where appropriate. Work within the NMC code of conduct and within the Trust guidelines and protocols. Effectively make decisions with support regarding safeguarding children and be able to interpret the available information. Planning and Organisational Skills

Be flexible to the demands of the environment including unpredictable work patterns, deadlines, and frequent interruptions. Be responsible for the effective management of your own caseload. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Current Registration with NMC Continuing CPD Skills and Knowledge

Experience of working with children Knowledge and skills in the assessment of and intervention with children and young people Experience

Broad range of experience in working as a qualified nurse Must have some post-qualification experience Evidence of effective caseload management Other

Willing to travel to different sites/car driver Disclosure and Barring Service Check
