We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic occupational therapist to join our specialist learning disability multi-disciplinary team. Come and join our community-based team who work closely alongside local authority and specialist mental health services to support adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an extremely rewarding specialist area where you will use your occupational therapy skills to manage a complex clinical caseload within a well-established and friendly team. The occupational therapy team provides specialist support to enable people with a learning disability to live their lives fully in the community. You will be expected to: Operate as an autonomous specialist occupational therapist and manage an appropriate complex clinical caseload providing specialist assessment and interventions for people with a learning disability. Work towards maximizing a person's quality of life by providing clinical expertise, behavioral and/or engagement support. Measure progress and ensure effective outcomes for the individual with a learning disability. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team. Work closely with all stakeholders and promote effective collaborative working with all those involved in the person's life. Contribute to the development of multi-disciplinary best practice, service development, and quality improvement. About us

QUALIFICATIONS

Recognised professional qualification in Occupational Therapy. Registered health care professional for Occupational Therapy (HCPC registration). Evidence of specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice. Approved Practice Educator. Management or supervisory qualification or experience of study. Working towards Master level study. EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years' experience post registration. Broad range of clinical experience across a variety of clinical areas. Practical experience in managing health-related projects/complex caseloads. Supporting others (mentor/educator/supervisor) experience. Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay/E-roster/Rio). Experience of working with people with a learning disability. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care of people with a learning disability. An understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management. Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months. SKILLS & ABILITIES

Understanding of training needs in relation to post. Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups. Strong influencing and negotiating skills. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Ability to motivate and organize others to ensure best practice. Ability to manage and lead change. Ability to work under pressure. Flexible and adaptable. ABILITY TO MANAGE

Able to support the implementation of local and national agendas for health under the guidance of the senior Practitioner. Ability to prioritize care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
