We are a multidisciplinary team within the Maxillofacial Department, covering East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust sites. Providing special care and Dental Nursing support to various grades of clinical team members - including Consultants, SpR's, Associate Specialists, Orthodontic and Dental Therapists and Dental Core Trainees. We have a team of 30 Dental Nurses who work across our East Kent Hospitals sites. Many are skilled in Radiography, Oral Health Education, and taking of impressions. Main duties of the job
Role specific duties include: To receive and prepare patients who need to undergo minor oral surgery/orthodontic/restorative procedures. To assist the clinician throughout such treatment and supervise the patient until they are fit to leave the department. To ensure dental surgery duties for the maxillofacial unit are undertaken in an efficient and professional manner. Provide specialist chairside assistance within the department and reception. Mixing and preparing of materials, dressings, and equipment. Care of equipment and reporting issues. To undertake general duties associated with the day-to-day running of the Maxillofacial unit. Ensuring that GDC guidelines on cross infection are conformed to. To assist the clinicians in the delivery of care to patients, which will include: Preparation of the clinical area prior to the start of each session. Receiving and preparing patients for treatment. Observing the condition of the patient throughout treatment. To help maintain a clean and tidy environment at all times. Respect every member of the team.
