You will work as part of a team of Colorectal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists and will also work effectively as an autonomous practitioner.
You will be a vital core member of the colorectal multidisciplinary team providing specialist advice and support to both patients and their families as well as other health care professionals.
This post is 12 months fixed term.
You will also act as a key worker for patients with colorectal cancer throughout their cancer journey as well as undertake and further develop the risk stratified cancer follow up programme.
You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have confidence in communicating with staff at all levels within the organisation as well as patients and families. Sound clinical reasoning skills are essential, and you will be able to prioritise your workload in order to meet competing demands.
You will influence patient care through clinical practice, clinical management, leadership, education, research and audit in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
This will include delivering the ‘supportive care’ requirements for patients with colorectal cancer as well as undertaking and developing the risk stratified cancer follow up programme. As part of this, you will be required to support the identification of appropriate patients, the monitoring of these patients, and ensuring that the surveillance scans and colonoscopies are booked at timely intervals and results are acted upon.
Communication of complex and sensitive information is a core element of this role.
