The Role:

As a Senior Theatre Practitioner, you will be a key player in ensuring high standards of care during a wide range of surgical procedures. You will bring extensive scrub experience across various specialities, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills further, including training for those who wish to become a Surgical First Assistant.

Key Duties:

Assist in a range of complex surgeries

across specialities such as General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Prepare and maintain the sterile field

to safeguard patient safety and minimize infection risks. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team

during procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and minimal disruption to theatre operations. Support junior staff and students

by sharing your expertise, and promoting continuous learning and development within the team. Ensure thorough and accurate documentation

of all perioperative care and interventions, contributing to excellent clinical outcomes.

What we are looking for:

Essential Requirements:

Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration. Extensive experience as a Scrub Practitioner in multiple specialities, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection control practices, and patient safety protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Desirable Requirments:

Interest in pursuing Surgical First Assistant (SFA) training. Post-graduate qualification in perioperative nursing or related fields. Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff or students. Involvement in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives
