Contract Embedded Software Engineer - Up to £60p/h (Outside IR35) 6-12month Contract Location:

Glasgow Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with a knack for hardware-software integration and a proven history of delivering products from prototype to production? If you thrive in developing robust firmware for complex systems and have expertise in sensor integration, PCB design, and real-time optimisation, we want to hear from you. This innovative Glasgow-based company is developing next-generation authentication devices and you'll play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimising the embedded systems that drive these groundbreaking products. Responsibilities:

Collaborate with hardware engineers to develop firmware for custom PCB designs, ensuring seamless hardware-software integration. Lead firmware development from architecture design to testing and deployment, focusing on real-time data processing and sensor integration. Optimise firmware for reliability, performance, and security, with a particular focus on image processing pipelines. Develop and maintain secure Device Firmware Update mechanisms for ongoing updates. Perform hardware bring-up and system-level testing to resolve hardware/software interaction issues. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CE, FCC, ISO) throughout the development process. Design firmware for scalability and future enhancements, enabling streamlined updates and modularity. Mentor junior developers and contribute to a collaborative, innovative team environment. Key Skills and Experience:

7+ years of experience in embedded software development, with a strong focus on hardware-software co-design. Proven track record of shipping embedded products from prototype to mass production. Proficiency in C/C++ and Rust for embedded systems. Experience with RTOS environments and low-power embedded system design. Hands-on expertise in sensor integration and real-time data acquisition. Knowledge of DFU processes, secure boot, and firmware validation techniques. Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART. Skilled in hardware debugging using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and JTAG. Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for embedded systems.
