Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, is currently seeking a 2D CAD Designer to join their team.

This is a full-time role, based in Norwich, working 9:00am - 6:00pm Mon - Fri. Due to seasonal variations, these hours can be variable.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Understands the principles of design and engineering. Must have a good knowledge and adept in the use of AutoCAD 2D. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages - particularly Excel, Word, Internet, and email. Able to understand basic business finance concepts and calculations. Must be a competent writer of business emails, quotations, and proposals. Able to demonstrate success and experience in a technical sales-related background.

Personal Specification:

Well presented with an understanding of good business practices and ethics. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to occasionally travel to customers both within and outside the UK when required. Able to commute reliably to the office base. Able to spend one or two nights away per month if required. Must have a flexible approach to working hours and be able to work extended hours on occasions when required. Must have a clean or near clean driving license.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce custom product design solutions for quotation support and product manufacture using 2D AutoCAD in accordance with agreed design principles and procedures. Produce works orders to communicate design and component specifications to production functions and external suppliers. Product design and works orders must be undertaken in accordance with agreed design principles and procedures defined in the company manual. Carry out direct sales activities from incoming customer enquiries. Develop design solutions and specifications including occasional off-site visits to assess requirements at first hand. Raise, communicate, and negotiate product quotations through the use of software packages in line with procedures outlined in the company handbook and approval of senior staff. Support and assist when requested, all other departments and sundry tasks. Follow Health and Safety procedures at all times as detailed in the Company Handbook. Adhere to, and assist in the continuous improvement of, Quality procedures and policies outlined in our ISO9001 Quality Manual and Certification criteria.

32 days holiday per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shutdown.
