Who We Are You will monitor and adjust the operations of the water treatment works, flow control valves, and remote reservoirs to ensure an adequate supply of water to customers in South Hampshire, as well as to the Isle of Wight (IOW) and the Esso Fawley refinery. As part of a dynamic shift team, you will operate Southern Water's newly rebuilt Otterbourne Water Treatment Works, located just outside of Winchester.

Your Responsibilities Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of water production, including abstraction, treatment, pumping, and the management of remote reservoir levels.

Your primary goal will be to produce drinking water that meets the high quality standards set by our regulators and satisfies our customers, all while being cost-efficient and safe. You will work closely with a dedicated team of operators, maintenance technicians, scientists, and local management on a 24/7, 365-day shift rota.

You will utilize control platforms such as SCADA and PRISM to operate the works.

A proactive approach, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential qualities for the successful candidate.

This role will also require some independent (lone) working, along with the ability to dynamically problem solve by drawing on the expertise of the wider operations team as needed. Essential Requirements Good organisational written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of basic mechanical/electrical engineering and instrumentation. Experience of following systems of work or written procedures. Analytical skills and able to spot deviations from an established trend. A passion for water treatment. Good verbal communication. Able to give clear instruction. Self-motivated. Able to work independently.

Above all, you'll need a positive attitude and to always be searching for ways to improve the way that you and your team work.

Desirable Requirements Water Treatment Process Knowledge/Experience. Experience of operating distribution systems. Shift work. Commitment to Health and Safety. Maintenance knowledge/experience. HMI / SCADA systems and ability to interpret data.
