Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Data Analyst to join the team and play a key role in delivering actionable insights through robust sales, customer, and stock reporting. You will be joining a well-established retail and distribution business with a highly successful e-commerce model.

Applicants must live within a commutable distance to attend their offices in Preston. Once up and running, you will be able to work from home 2-3 days a week.

This position is essential for maintaining data integrity, optimising operational efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and analytical expertise, with the ability to manage and enhance reporting systems.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare weekly sales reports for the management team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Generate detailed sales and contribution reports to calculate commissions payable. Collaborate with the IT team on transitioning from QlikView to a new reporting platform, ensuring a seamless migration and continued functionality. Provide ad hoc sales reports and analysis to address specific business needs. Track and analyse customer KPI metrics, including lifetime value, conversion rates, trade rates, and lapsed rates, to support management decision-making. Monitor and report trends in active customers to inform strategic planning. Perform daily stock movement reconciliations using data from warehouse management systems, ensuring accuracy for duty payments and management accounts. Produce stock ageing reports to identify and address issues with slow-moving stock. Support warehouse operational efficiency through ad hoc stock reporting. Manage bi-annual packaging waste levy reporting, staying updated on legislative changes and adapting processes as needed. Ensure overall data integrity and maintain alignment of reporting systems with evolving business needs. Specify design changes to the data warehouse and accounting system database in collaboration with the IT team.

Suitable Candidates Would Ideally Have The Following Skills Proficient in MySQL database administration and SQL Server report writing. Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis. Competence in VBA for automating and optimising Excel tasks. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Proven capability to manage complex and dynamic data requirements. Familiarity with QlikView or Qlik Sense for data visualisation and reporting.
