About the Role: Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity? This role is perfect for professionals returning to work, balancing family commitments, or simply seeking a change of pace. You will use your expertise in design to make adjustments to existing designs, contributing to the creation of high-quality products in a specialised field.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret sales and marketing briefs to produce conceptual designs for mechanical and electrical products. Create and modify mechanical CAD models of plastic mouldings and electrical PCBs. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective production of mechanical and electrical designs. Identify opportunities for reducing manufacturing costs and simplifying mechanical and electrical product designs. Minimise part counts and optimise mechanical product designs for easier manufacturing. Design and oversee the creation of factory tooling for both mechanical and electrical components. Validate designed mechanical and electrical parts to ensure they meet specifications. Assist in qualification testing to ensure compliance with engineering standards for mechanical and electrical designs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Significant experience in designing and delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical engineering products. Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks is a nice to have). Proven credibility in mechanical design and electrical design within the engineering sector. A track record of managing, costing, and delivering mechanical and electrical design projects.
