As a Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer, you will be working with end users, alongside other staff and liaising with suppliers, as appropriate. You will also work to maintain key infrastructure support processes, and check that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: The primary objective of this role will be communicating via the telephone to log, manage and resolve 2nd and 3rd line support calls generated from the customer base or projects team. These calls may come directly from answering the phone or from escalation from within the Infrastructure Support team. Involvement in internal project work or onsite support visits (Local to Dorset + Hampshire). Investigate a broad range of issues and other requests for support to determine appropriate actions to undertake. You will also help to support and guide colleagues on the Infrastructure support helpdesk with complex issues, where necessary. Provide correct and timely responses to requests for support in areas such as: system modifications, developing workarounds or site-specific enhancements, reconfiguring systems, training users or operations staff, producing additional documentation. Provide advice and guidance to colleagues where required, coaching and mentoring team members to support their growth and development within the Infrastructure help desk. Monitor the progress of requests for support and ensure users and other interested parties are kept informed. Take corrective action to avoid or minimise delays for clients. Monitor systems, note problems and identify performance trends. Take corrective action to improve performance and to avoid any problems arising. Ensure any client’s core infrastructure is monitored and maintained to a high quality with specific reference to availability, performance, security and operability. This will cover Microsoft Cloud, servers, networks, telecoms, firewalls/routers/switches and storage. Undertake regular technical systems reviews and health checks to ensure that the client’s technology is operating effectively and fit for purpose. Recognise areas for upselling additional products whilst in attendance at client organisation. Required Technical Experience: Strong Infrastructure experience in a similar position, ideally within another IT reseller. Expert Office 365 administration experience including exchange online and Azure active directory. Physical and Virtual server (Hyper-V and VMware) administration and troubleshooting. Solid understanding of key networking principles and ability to troubleshoot networking related issues including WAN, LAN, WLAN and VLAN. Experience troubleshooting and configuring Firewalls including LAN, WAN and VPN (mobile and branch office) rules and traffic monitoring. Experience troubleshooting various backup technologies and strategies.
