Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing advanced optical components and systems, utilising industry-standard optical design software such as Zemax. You will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end development process, from concept to deployment, ensuring that all optical designs meet the stringent requirements of the defense sector. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop complex lens systems, optical instruments, and related equipment for defense applications. Utilize Zemax and other optical design software for simulation, analysis, and optimisation of optical systems. Conduct advanced optical analyses, including ray tracing, diffraction, tolerance, stray light, and Monte Carlo simulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers, to integrate optical designs into larger systems. Prototype and test optical components and systems to validate performance against specifications. Generate comprehensive design documentation, including detailed reports, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in optical design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Provide technical leadership and guidance in the areas of lens design and optical engineering. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in optical design and analysis, preferably within the defense sector. Proficiency in Zemax or equivalent optical design software is essential. Hands-on experience with Monte Carlo analysis and understanding of statistical optics. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of geometrical and physical optics. Experience with optical testing methods, equipment, and data analysis. Familiarity with optical manufacturing processes and tolerance analysis.
