The rightful candidate will promote flexible working, adjusting their practice to the service and patient needs. The successful applicant will facilitate patients' journey within uro-oncology services, ensuring that the care is delivered safely and appropriately.
There is a need for close liaison with the staff on the Urology Ward, Day Surgery Unit, Admissions, Outpatients, Theatres, Pharmacy, members of the MDT and Primary Care Team to expedite and facilitate patient-centred care for urology and oncology patients.
Main duties of the job To work as part of the Uro-Oncology CNS team in the management of patients with urological cancers. To assess the needs of patients and their families. To collaborate with the multi-professional team and actively participate as an integral part of the urology weekly and specialist MDT. To refer appropriately patients to other services if needed. To take part in clinical duties (i.e. catheterisation, administration of Intravesical Chemo/Immunotherapy). To run intravesical treatments clinics and to run clinics delivering diagnosis to patients after delivered investigations. To be involved and run established nurse-led results clinic for patients following prostate, bladder biopsies and radical surgery. To provide telephone advice and assessment as required. Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records. To participate in the organisation and ongoing development of the Urology cancer nursing service for the Trust. To accept professional responsibility and accountability for the patient case load managing workload. To offer a supportive counselling service, social and practical support to patients and their carers. To discuss competently diagnosis and treatment options with sensitivity, knowledge and expertise and make an agreed patient plan of care.
