We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Pain Management to join the existing Pain Service at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Stanford Hall. We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated individuals who aspire to clinical excellence and who will join our team’s goal to provide the best possible pain management for UK military Service Personnel (SP). About us DMRC is a modern, purpose-built Tri-Service Rehabilitation Centre which opened in 2018 and is located near Loughborough. It is administratively part of Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). DMRC’s purpose is to provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for SPs with musculoskeletal and neurological injuries related to sports, exercise & training, overseas operational activities, other trauma or neurological diagnosis or event. The delivery of care is centred around intensive, residential, group-based exercise therapy provided by Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT). These Teams include Complex Trauma, Neuro, Lower Limbs, Spines, Upper Quadrant and Specialist Rehabilitation. DMRC is the only Defence location offering Pain Management Services (PMS). The site includes clinical radiology, and active research and education departments. Facilities on site include multiple gyms, a swimming pool, free parking, an on-site shop, a golf course, a running track, and tennis courts. Job Purpose: The Pain Service accepts internal referrals for support of ongoing in/outpatient rehabilitation and also referrals from Primary Care for single episode advice and guidance. PS provide an ‘End to End’ MDT approach, with enhanced pain assessment, medication optimisation, and pain interventions to facilitate rehab, function, and occupational role. A successful candidate will: Practice high-quality clinical MDT pain medicine and promote a culture of evidence-based best practice in line with relevant literature and guidelines. Deliver Clinical Leadership within an established culture of continuous improvement and governance. Collaborate with the team consisting of Military Pain Consultants, Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a Psychologist in Pain Management. Bring innovation and creativity to further develop the Defence Pain Service. Tasks & Responsibilities Include: Adherence to principles and values outlined in GMC Good Medical Practice (see link at

Provision of clinical supervision to members of the MDT. Provision of education and support to teams at DMRC, Regional Rehabilitation Units, and to Defence Primary Healthcare. Person Specification Qualifications and registrations Essential Full General Medical Council (GMC) Registration with a licence to practice. Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register. Evidence of Appraisal and Continuous Professional Development. Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) or equivalent. Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMRCA) or equivalent. Currency in Interventional Pain Management. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary Pain Management Service. Desirable Higher qualification e.g. Masters, MD, PhD. Evidence of published research or literature in Pain Management. Ten Pain Management PAs are currently available (8 DCC and 2 SPAs) without on-call commitment.
