Senior Estimator

A respected medium-sized building contractor based in Fareham is searching for a Senior Estimator to join the business.
The company undertakes a variety of refurbishment and new build projects for clients such as the NHS, MOD, Local Authority, Education, and Commercial sectors, with contract values ranging from £50K to £4M.
The company has been successfully running for over 13 years and has established itself as a recognized contractor with a current turnover of £15M.
They are a friendly, family-oriented business that offers hybrid and flexible working and is open to considering applications from Estimators or Senior Estimators with a construction background.
Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator:
Undertake all estimating duties and report to the Managing Director. Estimate primarily Refurbishment and New Build projects. Take ownership of the estimating process and follow a robust estimating procedure, including managing all enquiries to sub-contractors, choosing applicable sub-contractors, and communicating other bid requirements to members of the bid team. Take ownership of the entire bid process, which includes liaising with the Architect or PQS, establishing the bid requirements for submission, agreeing responsibility for the bid requirements, setting up and chairing tender launch, mid-bid and settlement meetings, and liaising with the marketing department to ensure the bid is submitted to company standards on time. Complete quantity take-offs as required and complete schedules of work, or bills of quantities if applicable. Thoroughly analyze sub-contract returns (including sub-contract comparisons) and engage with the supply chain throughout the bid to ensure suitable returns are provided. Requirements of the Senior Estimator:
Detailed knowledge of the construction industry. Good understanding of traditional building methods. Experience working with estimating software like Causeway. Good working knowledge of MS Office - Intermediate level of Excel. Ability to write clear and precise communications, including detailed and complex figures, calculations, and specific building information. Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn construction IT packages. Ability to complete take-offs and produce detailed schedules of work when required.
