Main Duties and Responsibilities: To ensure an effective and efficient Reception service is provided to patients and other visitors to the practice. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Ensure that any problems not resolved by the end of a shift are communicated to fellow Receptionists. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to patients. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate action. Liaise with GPs and carry out tasks requested by them. Action repeat prescriptions. Chaperone patients in consultations with GPs and Nurses as required (training will be provided). Be able to cover for colleagues who are on annual leave or off sick. We have five partners, along with two salaried GPs, a full nursing team, administration and reception teams. The purpose of the role is to: Provide a key service within the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, both in person and on the telephone. Answer telephone calls from patients, taking a summary of their problem and allocating them to the most appropriate clinician. Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
