Are you passionate about supporting children in their earliest years of education to learn and thrive? We have an exciting opportunity in a Primary School in the heart of Newport, as they prepare for their rise in 3's for their nursery. For this full-time role (part-time roles also available) we are seeking a patient, proactive and nurturing teaching assistant.

About the Role

As a Nursery/Reception Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide tailored support to children with social, emotional, and mental health needs in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Assist in delivering a rich, inclusive curriculum that fosters confidence, resilience, and key social skills. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans for children with ALN. Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. Helping pupils learn numeracy and language skills through daily activities. Build trusting relationships with pupils and parents and provide social and emotional support. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and well-being through structured interventions and activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who: Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils in their earliest years of education. Demonstrates patience, empathy, and positivity, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children. Works well as part of a team and is proactive in using initiative to meet children's needs. Any experience in early childhood education or working with children is highly valued, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
