As part of the Pre-School Home Visiting Service, the Practitioner will assist in delivering a flexible, high quality education and care-centred service that meets the needs of young children and their carers referred to this service. The Pre-school Home Visiting Practitioner will work closely with the Principal Teacher (Pre-School Home Visiting Service) to identify and support children who require extra support in their learning and development. He/she will support the provision of a safe, hygienic environment where sensitivity, mutual trust, respect, confidence and a caring ethos are evident, in accordance with current legislation. The Pre-school Home Visiting Service (PSHVS) is part of the Education Outreach Services and aims to provide support and advice to parents and early years settings to enable all pre-school children to reach their potential. We aim to promote independence, equality, respect and inclusion to ensure that children are confident and actively engaged in their relationships, play and learning. We work with pre-school children and their families. The service may be accessed by any child with needs which affect their educational development. The service currently comprises two part-time Pre-school Home Visiting Teachers and two Practitioners, based in Lerwick but working in Early Years settings and homes all over Shetland. The grade of this post is H Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4202 Permanent Part Time post for 12.0 Hours per Week, 40.5 weeks per year plus 6.48 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post A relocation package does not apply to this post We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited We are happy to talk flexible working During the application process you are required to give the names of two persons not related to you, who we can contact to provide a reference to support your application.
