An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a forward thinking palliative medicine department as a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on the Nightingale Macmillan Unit. The area has 21 beds, with the flexibility to increase to 24 beds in times of pressure to support the trust, and looks after patients nearing the end of their lives. We are looking for an individual who has demonstrable experience of leading and contributing to the development of an inpatient team and who is committed to delivering high standards of holistic care. The individual must have a caring and empathetic attitude, be a positive role model to junior staff, and demonstrate advanced communication skills. To support the Senior Sister in the day-to-day management of the unit and to ensure the delivery of patient-centred, clinically effective holistic care is provided in a safe and caring environment. Provide specific clinical knowledge and advice to the multi-professional team and promote the use of evidence-based practice to improve patient care outcomes. Supervise the delivery of care by junior staff, allocating clinical workload as required and responding to changing clinical situations while providing necessary advice and support to maintain high standards of patient care. Act as a role model at all times and ensure that all team members prioritize policies and procedures relating to infection control. Provide guidance and support to junior members of staff and comply with NMC standards for mentors. Maintain accurate, legible, and timely records of patient care using the current patient recording system. Closing date of applications: 23 January 2025 Interview date: 06 February 2025 About us

Knowledge

Demonstrable experience of working with end of life patients, and contributing to the quality and development of the service. Demonstrable experience of working in palliative medicine. Communication Skills

Ability to demonstrate advanced communication skills. Completion of an advanced communication skills course or equivalent. Experience

Demonstrable post-registration experience and the ability to demonstrate management skills. Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Professional Development

Demonstrable Degree level study or relevant post-registration experience/study. Possession of a teaching/assessing qualification. Qualifications
