The Role

About you Under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead, this post will work closely with parents, carers, and school staff to enhance the support available to our most vulnerable students to ensure that they overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will possess resilience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues and multi-agencies to safeguard student welfare.

The role will include acting as the deputy designated safeguarding lead (DDSL) and representing the school at Child Protection and other safeguarding meetings. They will also need to plan and deliver programmes of support to further student safety and wellbeing. Previous experience of working with children and young people is essential, ideally in a similar role within an education setting. We would also be interested in applications from colleagues in the social care sector.

Co-ordinate appropriate support for our vulnerable students, parents, and families by building strong working relationships with outside agencies and further developing our own policies and procedures for safeguarding.

A generous and secure pension scheme, with 22% employer contribution and death in service benefits

Career pathways and training to help you progress as far as your ambition takes you

Occupational sick pay and parental leave schemes, with service

26 days paid holiday entitlement, in addition to bank holidays, rising to 31 with service

Fair and family-friendly approach to other paid time off requests

Generous staff hospitality

Cycle to work scheme

Leisure centre discounts and access to fitness suite on site

How to apply We ask all applicants to apply through Face-Ed; our recruitment software. This enables us to efficiently carry out our safer recruitment checks, but we recognise it can take some time for the applicant. The good news is, you will only need to register for Face-Ed once to apply for any role in the Halliard Trust's 10 schools.

Our top tips for a painless process are as follows:

Because Face-Ed is cloud-based software, it is possible for you to experience a break in connection and you won't necessarily know about it straight away. We therefore strongly recommend that you prepare your main application content in a different package like MS Word/Notepad and copy and paste it into your Face-Ed application form in the relevant sections.

If you get a message saying "Validation Error" it isn't a software fault. It means you have entered data in a format that wasn't expected and it is causing a problem with saving. This might mean you have entered words in a box that expects numbers, for example.

Qualifications GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent A-C Essential

The Halliard Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants for all posts will be subject to vetting checks. The successful candidate will be subject to stringent vetting procedures, including an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and we will carry out online searches.
