About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Maths Lead to join our thriving Mathematics Department. As a Maths Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing the department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning, driving student achievement, and fostering a passion for mathematics across all key stages. Our ideal Maths Lead will bring innovative ideas, effective leadership, and an ability to inspire both students and staff. While QTS is preferred, we are open to considering teachers with substantial experience and a proven ability to deliver exceptional results in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Provide professional leadership and management as the Maths Lead, overseeing all staff within the Mathematics Department. Develop and implement effective schemes of work and curricula tailored to the diverse needs of students. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning to ensure consistency and high standards within the Mathematics Department. Lead, coach, and motivate staff, offering professional development opportunities and managing performance effectively as a proactive Maths Lead.

Teaching and Learning:

Deliver consistently high-quality lessons across all key stages, inspiring students to excel in mathematics. Use data effectively to inform teaching strategies and interventions, ensuring all students make excellent progress under your leadership as a Maths Lead. Promote the development of student's numeracy, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills through engaging lessons and dynamic leadership.

Student Achievement:

Ensure all students, including those with additional needs, make significant progress in mathematics. Address variations in achievement between different groups of students, working to narrow attainment gaps. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and enthusiasm for mathematics, setting a clear standard as a Maths Lead.

Person Specification:

We are looking for a candidate who: Holds a degree in Mathematics or a related subject. Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential with sufficient experience). Has a proven track record of delivering outstanding lessons across all key stages. Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others in a Maths Lead role. Is committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice. Has a passion for mathematics and a relentless determination to ensure every student succeeds under their leadership.
