- To assess, plan, implement and review individualised care for all patients attending for emergency/elective endoscopic procedures. - To assist with all endoscopic procedures undertaken within the JPUH Endoscopy. - To participate in a multi-professional approach to care.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of individualised care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients attending for endoscopic and other related procedures. Assisting with endoscopic procedures. Help retain high standards of care. To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary working team. Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the department are maintained. Ensure that all Trust, DOH, Health and Safety, and COSHH policies are adhered to. Preceptorship and support of new staff within the Department. Mentorship of nursing students. Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs. Participate in the multi-professional endoscopy user group meetings when required. To ensure that quality standards are met at all times. To undertake specific projects requested by the Senior Sister/Sister. Assisting in the effective use of all departmental resources. To be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the service. Participate in the out of hours on-call service. To ensure the safe discharge of all patients from endoscopy with appropriate follow-up and education. Effective use of computer systems within the department. To ensure the cleaning and disinfection of equipment following BSG, JPUH, and other relevant guidelines including the validation of the equipment used.

To assist the Endoscopists during endoscopic procedures. To participate in the out of hours on-call service. To keep own scope of practice up to date. To ensure all mandatory training is up to date. To take part in research and audit as defined by the Nurse Manager. To support patients, carers, and family through the endoscopy pathway journey. To abide by Trust policies and protocols and reflect all Trust values and behaviours positively. To be a valued and trusted team member.

Nursing Degree and NMC registration

Essential Qualifications achieved.

Essential NMC Registration.

Previous Endoscopy Experience

Essential Minimum 1 year experience.
