We are looking for a passionate and experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to shape the development of our Therapy Team at Newhaven Rehabilitation Centre. Newhaven is a standalone Rehabilitation Centre with 34 beds aimed at facilitating independence, recovery and rehabilitation to patients who no longer require care in the acute setting.
As a Clinical Specialist for Rehabilitation at Newhaven you will provide expert knowledge to your own caseload of patients with complex needs and will also be responsible for the clinical development of staff and pathways for patients.
You will act as a resource for specialist advice to the rest of the Therapies Directorate as well as within wider Trust multidisciplinary services.
This role will be critical in reviewing the effectiveness of service delivery and introducing where appropriate new ways of working to ensure that services deliver the expected standards of safety, quality and outcomes for all our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder, whether an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist will be responsible for leading, developing and supporting all therapy staff within the Newhaven Rehabilitation Team, leading on service improvements and relevant initiatives.
To manage a complex caseload using advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client centred approach. To act as a specialist advisor to the Newhaven Rehabilitation team regarding Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services and roles. To lead a team of both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, providing leadership for senior and junior staff and Therapy Assistants through supervision, appraisals and performance management. To act as a clinical source of expertise and advice being actively involved in leading on Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance for the Newhaven Rehabilitation team. To be responsible for the maintenance and development of your own CPD identifying and contributing to the evidence base of Occupational Therapy /Physiotherapy in Rehabilitation for frailty and older people.
