JOB PURPOSE: UK Power Networks is the leading Distributed Network Operator (DNO), with the ambition of supporting the transition to Net Zero at the lowest possible costs to customers. Technology and the right software are necessary to achieving that vision, and we are looking to bring into the team a person who can support us in ensuring that we remain compliant with complex licence agreements, procure the right software for our needs, and ensure that our IT assets are being controlled and managed. You will manage the following capabilities at UK Power Networks: Software and Hardware contract management Software Licence Compliance and audits IT hardware tracking and assurance We are on the cusp of delivering our RIIO-ED2 delivery programme, including the transformation of our SAP estate, migration of our on-premise data centres to cloud, and refreshing our end-user devices. You will be at the heart of these challenges and ensure we develop technology in the most cost-efficient way, keeping down bills for customers. Our strategic software partners are Microsoft, SAP, and IBM, and experience in one (or more) of these areas alongside Azure and SaaS products is highly desirable. Our strategic hardware partners are Panasonic and Lenovo. You will work as part of the IT Commercial function, collaborating with colleagues across our entire business. DIMENSIONS: IT OPEX: £18.0m (Value of software per annum) IT CAPEX: £3.0m per annum Staff: 2 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Design and operate a Software Governance framework and monitor adherence to process Analyse software contracts and licence models, operational reporting, monitoring, and data Collaborate between Procurement, Architecture, and the wider business to support the purchasing of Software Contract manage our 'Large Account Reseller' which is used to procure software and hardware, including performance reviews and ensuring that pricing is fair and reasonable Analyse and increase the deployment of software to ensure licences are only deployed where necessary Optimisation, consolidation, and standardisation of the software portfolio Software audit management and coordination Manage and steer Licence Management services from Managed Service Partners Support the Digital Organisation in the operational sourcing process Guide the implementation of measures to support adherence to procurement and compliance processes. Define and manage Key Value indicators to ensure satisfaction of internal customers. Develop and run an approach to track IT assets ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to avoid fraud. Ensure reporting of lost, stolen, and damaged devices. Ensure environmental standards are taken seriously for the life of the hardware assets including through feasibility of repairs and responsible disposal. Manage the IT new joiners process to ensure that every new joiner has the appropriate devices, software, and access ahead of joining. Manage the IT leavers process to ensure that every leaver returns their IT Equipment. Develop automation and centralise incidents/requests within their function to provide a 9.5/10 service to customers. NATURE AND SCOPE: The Technology Department works across UK Power Networks, supporting us in the achievement of our strategy to become the best performing DNO. The team achieves this through the provision of best-class, groundbreaking, but cost-effective technology solutions, and the optimisation of current solutions to improve how we operate. Continuous improvement, customer service, and seamless delivery are at the heart of our ethos. You will work with several partners including our Managed Service Providers that deliver licensing obligations across their services, external assurance partners, and our internal technology delivery teams responsible for their areas. SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience of Information Technology through a Degree or work experience Experience in Software Compliance including Audits, Effective Licence Positions, different licensing models, licence metrics, and IT Asset management Experience with process definition, methods, and software governance Experience of Information Technology departments Organisational, analytical, and facilitation skills and strong drive to deliver quality results to specific deadlines Develop relationships with challenging partners and senior colleagues.
