Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Water Sector
We're seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead project design and delivery in the water sector, from tender development to project coordination. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape a newly established Design Hub, driving innovation in water and wastewater treatment design. Either an existing Principal or a Senior looking to take the next step, we are looking for someone who wants the independence to grow their own team and processes.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and oversee mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards. Manage design reviews, approvals, and technical oversight on multi-disciplinary projects. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver innovative solutions. Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development. Conduct site visits to verify, troubleshoot, and resolve project challenges.
What We're Looking For: 5-8+ years' experience in mechanical design (water sector preferred). Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer status desirable). Expertise in process plant systems, CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit), and PDM systems. Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills. Practical on-site experience with a focus on health and safety.
