Job summary Consultant in Gynaecology (2 posts) - special interest Gynae Oncology 2 x 10 PA posts - substantive posts Barnet Hospital site Main duties of the job An excellent opportunity has arisen for two consultants with an interest in gynaecology oncology. These are new posts to strengthen our gynaecology oncology department in the face of increasing referrals and commitments. The candidates are expected to have a broad range of skills in gynaecology with an emphasis in outpatient diagnostics as it pertains to oncology. It is envisaged that the candidates are independent at elective and emergency day case and inpatient gynaecology surgery. Experience in laparoscopic management of gynaecological malignancy is desirable as is gynaecological ultrasound. There is currently no obstetric or on call component, but this is subject to change as the requirements in the department changes. About us There is a commitment to 21 Saturdays a year and evening clinics - further details from line manager. There will be flexible cross site working to include Barnet General, Royal Free Hospital, Chase Farm, Edgware Community and Finchley memorial hospitals. The Job plan is flexible at this stage and will involve, clinics, theatres, outpatient hysteroscopy and if appropriate colposcopy. Job description Job responsibilities The successful candidates will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of gynaecologists, specialist nurses and allied health professionals. The candidate should be keen to work as part of a team and develop good relationships with other staff within and outside of the department. The successful candidates are expected to be fully trained in all aspects of general gynaecology, independent at elective and emergency day case and inpatient gynaecology surgery, competent at managing gynaecological including early pregnancy emergencies. The candidate is encouraged to discuss the post with the CD Miss Natalia Barbaneagra, and the oncology lead Miss Katherine Anderson. Person Specification Royal Free World Class Values Essential Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values Education & professional Qualifications Essential MBBS MRCOG Entry onto the Specialist Register (or entry to be within 6 months of expected CCT date) Desirable MD/PhD Experience Essential Appropriate level of skills and abilities expected from a consultant in gynaecology oncology. Good working knowledge and experience of gynaecological oncology. Desirable Advanced laparoscopic skills relevant to gynaecological oncology Skills and aptitudes Essential Ability to work flexibly and communicate within a multidisciplinary team A clear understanding of Risk management Involvement in guideline development Evidence of participation in clinical audit Evidence of involvement in a quality improvement project Personal Qualities & attributes Essential Calm under pressure and self-contained with an ability to support team members.
