Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 16:30 Are you an experienced Automation Engineer with a passion for designing and implementing innovative automated systems? Our client is a global leader in engineering and repairs and are looking for a skilled professional to join their dynamic team. About the Role As an Automation Engineer, you will be pivotal in developing, implementing and maintaining automation solutions to support a range of engineering and logistics projects. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust systems, create control software and troubleshoot complex automation challenges. This role offers the opportunity to innovate in a fast-paced environment, directly impacting operational success and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Prepare and assemble part manufacture drawings to BS8888 standards for quoting, manufacturing and building purposes. Fabricate and weld components for automation systems. Develop and implement code for controlling electro-mechanical systems. Test, debug and optimise source code for automation systems. Program and troubleshoot logic controllers for system efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis to resolve automation failures and identify improvement opportunities. Create and interpret schematics using GD&T principles. Collaborate with suppliers to select optimal solutions and innovate cost-effective concept designs for customer approval. Utilise mechanical expertise to design and execute automation projects. About You You are an accomplished Automation Engineer with a strong mechanical background and expertise in software development for automated systems. With a proven track record of continuous improvement, you thrive in dynamic environments where innovation and technical excellence are key. Qualifications and Skills Degree in Mechanical Design, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD software. 3+ years of experience with ST (Structured Text) or C#/C++ programming for PLC or motion controllers. Familiarity with Ladder Logic, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino is advantageous. Expertise in machine-control APIs and complex system controls. Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to fabricate and weld components. Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.
