SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures – including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS). Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a new job opportunity for a Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant within our Pre-Analytics department based at our HUB in Taunton. Hours:

37.5hrs / 9:00am-5:30pm / Mon-Fri Responsibilities: To prepare and process clinical specimens for testing. To input data onto the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times. To perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations. Essential Skills and Experience: NVQ3, or equivalent level of knowledge – a minimum requirement of 3 GCSEs to include English, Maths and at least one Science subject. Good degree of accuracy & numeracy. Experience in working within a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate with a wide range of levels of staff within the laboratory and user organisations. Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
