law students who have completed their 2nd year at University and are looking for a gap year , and have an interest in Family Law to come and join our team for a 30-week placement starting in January or February 2024. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GRADUATED YOUR LAW DEGREE - THIS IS AN INTERNSHIP ONLY The role is working in our Pro Bono team speaking with applicants, drafting witness statements, and filling in court documents for Non-Molestation Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders, and Occupation Orders. The role will be based in our Guildford offices, so travel to the offices each day is required. The hours are Monday – Friday 9am – 5:30pm with a 1-hour lunch. This position involves helping victims of Domestic Abuse and Domestic Violence with their witness statements and court application forms. You will be speaking with applicants daily, so you must have a good telephone manner and be able to draft witness statements (full training will be given). In addition to statement drafting, you will also assist on our Helpline, taking initial calls into the office and assessing each applicant on their means and merits. This position will help you determine what legal route you wish to take after you graduate, providing you with fantastic skills in client interaction, drafting court paperwork, and good legal knowledge in Family Law. Once you have graduated from University, we will offer all our Interns an opportunity to return and work with us as a Trainee Paralegal, with the view to progress to our sister company, National Legal Service, where you can work towards a training contract or your SQE and become a fully qualified Solicitor. Please note that this role is only open to students who have completed their 2nd year in Law and are taking a gap year; we will not accept applications from anyone who has already graduated. The salary for this position is a base salary of £10,500 pro rata. Job Types: Full-time, Internship Contract length: 12 months Pay: £10,499.00-£10,500.00 per year Free parking Schedule: Day shift Monday to Friday Must have completed your 2nd year in University in Law. Able to work full-time Monday - Friday 9am - 5:30pm from our Guildford office. This is a full-time position; we will not offer anything below these hours!
