Hays Technology is proud to be working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) who are looking to appoint a Senior Projects Engineer to join their Shared ICT team.

SBC serves as the local authority for Stevenage, a vibrant town in Hertfordshire, England. Established in 1974, the council has been under Labour control since its inception, reflecting a commitment to community-focused governance.

Would you like to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their IT infrastructure? This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional who is passionate about technology and dedicated to enhancing community services through innovative IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and design new technologies and upgrades to existing systems, particularly around Microsoft 365 and VDI solutions.

Create and implement IT policies and standards.

Lead and manage major incidents, providing troubleshooting and resolution without extensive direction.

Collaborate with project managers to ensure successful project delivery.

Work with third-party experts and internal teams to design and implement solutions.

Take ownership of enterprise technologies and ensure their optimal performance.

Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team.

Participate in change management processes, including risk assessment and mitigation.

Support the infrastructure team in various capacities, including on-premises and cloud technologies.

Key Technologies:

Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)

VDI solutions (VMware Horizon, Intune)

VMware vSphere

Pure Storage

Azure services

General core infrastructure (Active Directory, Entra, backup and recovery)

Requirements:

Proven track record of planning, designing, and implementing IT solutions.

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365 and VDI solutions.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle major incidents independently.

Experience working with project managers and leading projects.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to drive and occasionally work on-site as required.

Enthusiastic and proactive attitude, with a desire to grow and take on new challenges.
