JOB TITLE:Senior Pensions Lawyer - Group Corporate Treasury LOCATION(S):London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Chester, Halifax, Leeds or Cardiff HOURS:Full Time WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which means spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Group Legal has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pensions Lawyer to join the Group Corporate Treasury legal team on a secondment for 6 months. The role will support Group pensions matters and related transactions and require the delivery of high quality legal and strategic advice, guidance and support to a range of partners within the Group, operating as a senior SME, within a supportive and collegiate team. We're a mix of capital markets and pensions senior lawyers and lawyers who share a common goal of providing insightful and strategic legal advice and innovative solutions. A friendly, open and lively team, we love to collaborate and pride ourselves on providing an excellent service. We partner with GCT business, Risk, People & Places and Legal & Secretariat colleagues to support matters which are core to the Group’s strategy. We’re an experienced and encouraging team, and there’ll be lots of opportunity to upskill. You'll provide specialist legal support to GCT Pensions and People & Places. GCT manages the Group’s balance sheet and capital to support our Group strategy and P&P’s priority is making LBG a place where people love to work, so that we can keep supporting our customers and communities. The work we do has genuine breadth and variety. Examples of areas we support include: Strategic and technical advice to senior management and executives across the various business areas of the Group dealing with Group pensions matters.

Negotiate with the Trustee advisers in relation to the schemes and external counsel in relation to corporate transactions and restructurings.

The Group’s governance processes in respect of decisions relating to the Group’s pension liabilities.

Pension documentation including pension scheme rules and supplementary deeds, scheme booklets, product terms, funding documentation, settlement agreements, correspondence with members, court documents.

Correspondence with the Pensions Regulator, the Pensions Ombudsman and the PRA.

Reviewing media and company related statements.

Corporate programmes/projects and products.

Pension-related disputes/complaints and litigation in conjunction with the Group's litigation specialists.

You’ll need a current UK legal practicing certificate to qualify for this role, with ideally 5+ years’ PQE. We're also looking for these key attributes: Experienced in providing commercially focused advice on complex transactions and occupational pensions law, strategy and governance

Knowledge of the wider legal and regulatory environment, ideally with a good understanding of the regulatory landscape for occupational pension schemes

Comfortable navigating ambiguity, adept at prioritising in a fast-paced high impact environment, willing to be agile, resilient.

Builds effective relationships and partners collaboratively in and across teams; able to work independently.

Impactful communication and influencing skills; emotional intelligence; comfortable to speak up and challenge when needed.
