The main duties of the post will include: Providing high quality care to patients attending the Emergency Department. Ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making supporting the sustained delivery of the Emergency Care Standard. Providing clinical leadership and supervision to other clinicians working within the Emergency Dept. Participating in the development of the Trusts Emergency Medicine service including QIPS, protocols and guidelines. Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clinicians both internally and externally. Providing and delivering educational opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate level. New consultant positions typically will take part in on-call duties which are currently shared within the team on a 24-week rolling rota with 3:24 weekend working, category A basis currently assessed as 0.9PA. Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space, secretarial support, and networked computer facilities, are provided. Supporting Professional Activities with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service, such as teaching or departmental leadership roles.
