Loads Engineering Internship (Lifetime Assessment)

to join our team of specialists in a dynamic and growing company. This 6-month internship, starting in February/March 2025, will focus on developing a framework to assess how site-specific conditions impact the durability and lifetime of wind turbine components.

What you will be doing.

As our

Loads Engineering Intern (Lifetime Assessment) , you will be supporting the development of a framework to evaluate how site-specific conditions impact wind turbine component durability and lifetime. You will assist in creating an interpolation model using simulation data to optimize turbine design and maintenance strategies. As a

loads engineering intern , you will be involved in the development of this framework with the following tasks: Definition of the parameters to be included in the database. Prepare and run the OpenFast simulations to populate the database. Develop the interpolation model. Ensure the quality and reliability of the database and the interpolation model. Contribute to the tools development to build the framework. Contribute to defining the next development steps of the framework, such as adaptation to offshore turbines. Regularly present progress, results, and conclusions during team meetings. The expected outputs of this internship are: A training database of OpenFast simulations. An Excel spreadsheet or Python tool for fatigue load interpolations. Python tools integrated into the lifetime assessment framework. Documentation associated with these tools. The internship is based in Nantes, France. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in France and be enrolled in a master’s program. Please note that relocation support and visa sponsorship are not available for this role. The internship is for a duration of six months, starting in February or March and concluding in July or August 2025. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-site attendance is mandatory for the duration of the internship.

We are looking for a talented

Loads Engineering Intern - Lifetime Assessment , who is in the final year of a master’s program. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and a passion for advancing innovation in the field. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will have: Last-year engineering master's student, eager to get involved in renewables. Professional proficiency in English. Programming skills (Python, Matlab, etc.). Basic wind turbine knowledge. Good understanding of mechanics. Autonomy and strong organizational skills. Communication and presentation skills. Proactive behaviour. Soft Skills Strong analytical, synthesis, and writing abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Determined, dynamic, and proactive with a focus on autonomy. Results- and client-oriented mindset. Effective team player. Desirable: Specialization in renewables. Previous experience with OpenFAST or similar aero-hydro-servo coupled analysis tools (academic projects or internships). Basic understanding of OpenFAST or similar tools related to aerodynamics. Knowledge in hydrodynamics and offshore structures is a plus.
