We are representing a leader in developing and manufacturing high-quality solutions for Tier 1 automotive clients. In the UK, the company operates multiple sites with specialised capabilities, including state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly facilities. Recent growth and expansion into new markets have created the need for a Head of Supply Chain to drive operational excellence and facilitate strategic business objectives.
The Opportunity: The Head of Supply Chain will play a crucial role in leading all Materials Planning and Logistics (MP&L) activities across the UK operation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this individual will oversee strategy development, process improvement, and operational efficiency. The role requires a strong leader capable of driving cultural transformation, optimising workflows, and fostering a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a best practice MP&L vision, strategy, and policies to improve operational performance. Oversee material scheduling, planning, and logistics to ensure seamless flow across sites. Manage inventory integrity, streamline IT systems, and standardise processes. Lead and coach a team to deliver continuous improvement and cost efficiencies. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies while driving a culture of excellence. Develop a strategic growth plan with a focus on material control, process flow, and system upgrades. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain leadership, specifically within automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 or OEM environments. They will possess: Proven expertise in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (Six Sigma Black Belt preferred). Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. A strategic mindset, capable of defining organisational culture and driving transformation. Advanced proficiency in SAP and ERP systems, with experience in production planning and complex workflows. A track record of managing budgets, optimising costs, and delivering measurable business improvements.
Additional Requirements: Certified to degree level (preferred Fellow or Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport). In-depth knowledge of JIT, Kanban, and automotive supply chain standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
