I am assisting my client in Cambridge in their search for a Head of Purchasing. This is a full-time, permanent role and an immediate start is available for the right candidate.

As Head of Purchasing, all procurement responsibilities within the organisation will fall into your remit and you will play a critical role in optimising costs, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and building strong supplier relationships.

Your responsibilities include:

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement best practices. Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, and price. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers. Monitor vendor performance. Analyse spending patterns and identify areas for cost reduction. Negotiate with suppliers to deliver cost savings. Implement cost-effective procurement processes. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless supply chain operations. Forecast demand and manage inventory levels in line with business objectives. Assess and mitigate supply chain risks. Stay informed about market trends and potential disruptions. Lead the procurement team. Establish and monitor key performance indicators. Ensure all procurement activities adhere to regulatory standards and organisational policies. Supply chain strategy definition and deployment for new products. Supplier identification. Manage and represent the company with major suppliers. Commodity market analysis.

Requirements for the role:

Results-driven and cost-focused. Experience working with global suppliers. MCIPS qualification ideally. Extensive supply chain experience within the electronics or telecommunications industry. Experience managing global suppliers. Team management experience. Strong IT skills. Experience of offshore contract manufacturing management. Ability to influence at senior level. Ability and willingness to travel internationally when required.
