Lancaster University Leipzig wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor equivalent to lecturer (Teaching and Research) or lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Marketing/Communications. The candidates will have a PhD (or be close to completing one) and be able to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate/MSc levels.

This post arises as a result of international teaching and research activities, which the successful applicant will need to help deliver. Specifically, Lancaster University has established an exciting new campus in Leipzig, Germany. Located in one of Germany’s most vibrant, liveable, and attractive cities, the Leipzig campus offers the same academic quality and fully rounded student experience as in the UK, with a strong strategic vision of excellence in teaching, research, and engagement.

The post holder will be based on the Leipzig campus, and will involve teaching, research, engagement, and administrative responsibilities. Teaching requirements are in the broader area of Marketing/Communications, at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Colleagues do have access to the research environment at Lancaster University Management School in the UK, but also can benefit from a very active research team in Leipzig. The expectation is to create a critical mass of empirical researchers that also have an interest in collaborating across disciplinary boundaries. Particularly, the Management department collaborates closely with the Computer Science department on topics like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain. The successful candidate will be an active member of a vibrant research community in a highly aspiring and collegial setting.

Please note this role is a full-time, indefinite post based in Leipzig, Germany and ideally we would like the appointed candidate to start at latest on 1st September 2025. The opportunity is unique as the role is permanent after a 6-month probationary period with the opportunity of being promoted to senior lecturer, reader, and professor in line with expectations. The contract is with Lancaster University Leipzig and therefore under German law.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Professor Constantin Blome, email: c.blome@lancaster.ac.uk.
