Main Purpose of the Position To support all electrical systems and equipment in the plant as well as continuous development and optimization of their usage to ensure the smooth and continuous running of the manufacturing area. Under the direction of the Electrical Co-ordinator, service the requirements of the manufacturing process to assist the plant meet its KPI requirements. Key Responsibilities: Installs and maintains high-speed, industrial process equipment for can making, power, lighting, control and PLC logic controls for all production process and control. Troubleshoot, adjusts and repairs all electrical equipment, components, transducers, and complex timing and inspection devices. Performs preventative maintenance on assigned electrical systems. Diagnose causes of malfunctions and corrects through programmable logic controls. Ensures effective equipment operation through proper line control programming and proactively suggest methods to improve line performance. Installs and troubleshoots facility power distribution and lighting services. Updates wiring schematics and computer / PLC program printouts. Supplies and maintains required hand tools. Maintains daily log-books and records where applicable. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer systems. Determines all supplies needed for each assignment. Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties as and when required or instructed. Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures for your area of responsibility. Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment. Maintains awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions. Adheres to all company practices and procedures with regards to waste management and health & safety. Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained or is directed (i.e., inspections, labeling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc.) Assures and maintains safe working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations with regards to the relevant regulations. Performs such individual assignments / projects as management may direct. Adherence with Ardagh policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct. Professional Requirements Qualifications Apprenticeship in an Engineering/Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience. Relevant electrical engineering qualification. Current Electrical certification. Languages English, written and verbal. Computer Skills/literacy Microsoft Office, Excel, Word. Experience/Attributes Competent ability to wire, assemble and layout electrical/electronic systems in an extremely neat and professional manner and conform to compliant wiring specifications. Demonstrate working knowledge of wiring schematics and computer program printouts and ability to update as necessary. Enthusiastic, proactive, can do attitude. Demonstrate effective, communication, organisational and influencing skills. Analytical skills to interpret numerical data. Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practices. Experience of working manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process. Ability to use hand and power tools, electronic test equipment. The ability and willingness to assist with breakdowns and line conversions & regular TPM/Downtime activities. Can demonstrate the ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail. A team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work alone under their own initiative. The ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise their own workload whilst maintaining records. Maintains technical knowledge by attending training courses as and when required. Flexibility or willingness to travel. Support, coach and train colleagues as required.
