Temporary contract to cover maternity leave | full-time 37 hours per week | £41,173 to £45,442 per annum (Grade K) | Dereham - countywide Communication Support Officer (Specialist Speech and Language Therapist) At our New Roads Hubs, we have ambitious plans to shape how we work with families, placing practitioners and relationship-based practice at the heart of what we do. Through Vital Signs, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and achieve the best possible outcomes. We are looking for maternity cover for our Communication Support Worker, a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), to work with vulnerable young people who have speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) aged between 11-19 years of age, or up to 25 years of age where the individual has a special education need or a disability. Embedded within our New Roads service, you will work alongside a specialist team including a Life Coach (Clinical Psychologist), Education Training and Employment Support, Placement Support, and Homelessness Support. You will undertake training within residential children’s homes, with teams such as the Family Intervention and partner agencies to raise awareness of the types of communication difficulties faced by young people and strategies to facilitate their communication. You will maximize the opportunity to build trusting relationships with young people, being flexible and accessible for them to reach out in settings they are comfortable in. As a qualified speech and language therapist with a relevant degree, you will be HCPC registered with evidence of successful completion or ongoing specialist short course/training up to master’s degree level or equivalent, and membership of a relevant Clinical Excellence network (local or national). With experience at a specialist level, you will have in-depth knowledge of a range of appropriate SLT therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits. This is a great opportunity to be part of our service, connecting and engaging with young people to support them to achieve the best possible outcomes in life.
