Join our team and be part of a forward-thinking company committed to precision and quality. The Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated Centre Lathe Turner to join our team. You will operate our XYZ Proturn semi-CNC lathe, producing high-quality aerospace and advanced engineering components. Reporting to the Section Production Supervisor, you will play a key role in low-volume production of gear blanks, shafts, and fixtures, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate NC centre lathes based on engineering drawings and specifications.

Low-Volume Production: Manufacture precision parts, including gear blanks, shafts, and fixtures.

Tool Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining.

Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and tool changes to keep operations running smoothly.

Troubleshooting: Monitor machining processes and resolve issues as they arise.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with the production team to meet deadlines and improve processes.

Safety & Organisation: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace while adhering to all safety protocols.

Documentation: Accurately document machining processes and maintain records of completed work.

What You Bring Proven experience as a Centre Lathe Turner in a manufacturing or machining environment.

Strong proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Solid knowledge of metalworking principles, cutting tools, and machining techniques.

Expertise in precision measurement using tools such as micrometers and gauges.

Problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Experience: This role would suit candidates with a toolmaking background or experience in low-volume precision production. Qualifications GCSEs in Mathematics (or equivalent).

Vocational qualifications or certifications in machining are highly advantageous.

Working Conditions Shop floor environment with regular interaction with machinery.

Occasional lifting of heavy objects.

Working Hours Early Shift:

Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM - 2:15 PM.

Late Shift:

Monday to Thursday, 2:00 PM - 12:15 AM.

Available at enhanced rates.
