Mechanical Build / Fitter

A member of the build team who is responsible for the build of sub-assembly units. This position is then responsible for the integration of these units onto the overall machine build of Friction Welding Machinery, which also includes the installation and upgrades on-site at the customer's location - both within the UK and worldwide.

Our client is seeking a focused, detail-oriented team member with uncompromisingly high standards and solid work ethic coupled with a strong desire to learn.

Position Summary:

We are recruiting for a skilled and creative minded team member to fit and assemble machine unit assemblies such as spindles, clamps, automation, lubrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical sub-assemblies and fit/assemble those units within the general assembly of the friction welding machine by using assembly drawings and schematics.

Working in collaboration with the Build Supervisor, our Mechanical Build / Fitters ensure that each unit and machine is built on time, to the machine schedule, on spec to the assembly and mechanical specifications of the machine, and on budget to the estimated hours for each sub-assembly.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Assemble machines per assembly prints Read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics Hydraulic tube bending / forming and making hose assemblies Install pneumatic and hydraulic systems Utilize welding ability to fabricate mounting brackets Inspect parts from a drawing using various inspection equipment Build spindles Build clamps Perform on-site installation, upgrades and refurbishments Operate machine shop equipment such as Miller, Lathe, Surface Grinder, etc. Integrate vendor automation, conveyors, robots and guarding

Required Skills and Competencies: Proven commitment to safety by an excellent safety record Keen ability to work within a strong team environment Proficiency in working to tight tolerances Experienced ability to read assembly drawings Experienced ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and layout Experience ability in tube bending Exceptional verbal communication skills Verifiable superior attendance history Proficiency in attention to detail Ability to adapt and be flexible to build design and schedule changes Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and anticipate results, and make effective decisions

Required Education and/or Experience: City and Guild Mechanical Engineering and/or BTECH Mechanical Engineering Machine Tool Fitter Experience Bespoke machine building experience, preferred
